Start with a Sailing Basics adventure, or get an Introduction to Yachting, International Crew or International Bareboat Skipper Certificate while exploring the Queensland coast between the Whitsundays and Cairns, arguably the worlds best cruising and sailing playground. Explore the crystal clear waters around outer and fringing reefs, explore islands and beaches from a perspective few get to see, go snorkelling on coral reefs and satisfy your curiosity to learn and get involved and certified in recreational sailing at the same time. We'll literally get you involved in the sailing of Starlight as we teach you the basics of cruising under sail. We sail extensively in the Whitsunday Islands for short courses and as far north as Cairns waters for more advanced courses. Our sail training courses starting in the Whitsundays, Townsville and Cairns are internationally recognized in 34 countries and some can be used commercially. General Information

Starlight is a sail training vessel and we make sure that you can get hands on during our 3 day and 2 night Sailing Basics or Intro to Yachting Adventure. Guests come from all around the world to see the Whitsundays under sail and we take our task of passing on the basics of sailing Starlight on to you. We want you to understand how our sailing vessel works and why we make the decisions we make from moment to moment. Our structured IYT Intro to Yachting introduces you to the lifestyle of cruising under sail and at the same time takes in the beauty of the Whitsunday Islands, tropical marine life and fringing reefs. At the end of the adventure with us, you'll be certified by IYT to assist as a crew member on a sailing vessel.

We know that many people who sail these waters for the first time are instantly hooked on cruising under sail, so we include the Intro to Yachting course for every guest, on every trip. We guarantee you'll get more from a sailing adventure with us than any ordinary overnight sailing trip in the Whitsundays. Many people want to take it further after their Intro to Yachting adventure and we'd be happy to have you back with us for the next step as an International Crew Certification or even one of the various skipper certifications we can train you for.

Starlight is a proven long distance cruiser having sailed the entire East Coast of Australia, The north coast of Australia to Darwin, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand! Our crew bring extensive, long distance cruising experience to every Starlight adventure and impart that knowledge to you so you can live out your own long distance sailing dreams.

To enable us to meet our duty of care and establish an acceptable level of risk, Every student, passenger or guest must have a clear understanding of safety directions and instructions given in English by the crew and be able to complete the required safety forms in English. A passenger is only able to participate in water activities if they have a level of swimming experience that suits the location and conditions at the time. If a passenger is unable to swim satisfactorily they will still be able to participate in the sailing course, but may not but able to participate in water activities such as snorkeling. In order to meet our minimum safety standards, passengers must be able to exit the vessel unassisted in the unlikely case of an emergency.

Please advise us before booking if any passengers are under 18 years old to ensure we can provide additional information for sailing courses for juniors.

You must reconfirm 48 hours prior to travel as we may need to take wind and tide conditions into account and departure times may vary. If applicable, notes such as dietary requirements should also be confirmed at this time.

It is your responsibility to notify us of booking inconsistencies or discrepancies. Please read through the details on your boarding pass thoroughly to ensure all details such as passenger names, contact details, ages and dates of travel on the boarding pass are correct.

It is a requirement that at the time of booking and again on arrival at the vessel, before boarding, that you advise the vessels Master of any medical conditions any person on your boarding pass may be suffering including allergies.

All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST.

We want you to be aware that adventure travel involves risk. We make every effort to safeguard our students, guests and passengers, we cannot be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of our students which are beyond our control. We highly recommend that all students have travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss or damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure. You should also ensure your travel insurance will cover special circumstances including weather events preventing students from travelling to their departure point and cancelled flights due to unforeseen circumstances.

All booking changes and boarding pass changes attract a $20 administration fee.

All passengers, guests and students are required to accept a liability waiver prior to booking. A copy of this is available here for you to review and a copy is attached to your ticket. On submitting a booking request, you declare that you all students, passengers and guests booked on your behalf, are willing to accept the conditions of this liability waiver and undertake to sign a copy of this liability upon arriving at your departure point. Failure to sign the waiver prior to departure may result in you being unable to undertake your tour.
